TAAL has essentially worked with socially and economically excluded communities. In our work we have worked extensively with Bhils and Bhilalas in Dhar, Jhabua and Alirajpur. In Shivpuri district, TAAL has worked with the Sahariya tribe, that has been designated as Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group by the Government of India. TAAL’s work in Burhanpur district has been in forest fringe villages that included the Korku tribal groups. In Ashoknagar district, villages covered include Sahariya tribal communities. In urban Bhopal TAAL has chosen to work in economically disadvantaged settlements with communities that have been categorized as scheduled caste and other backward castes.
With the target communities TAAL consciously focuses on women and children in bringing them in to mainstream decision making processes and as part of the primary beneficiary of its interventions. |
